Employers Shift to More Independent Navigation, Embrace GLP-1 Drugs with Restrictions
A majority of benefit consultants recommend that self-insured employers look to independent healthcare navigation solutions, according to a new report by MedCity News and Quantum Health. Self-insured employers are also adopting GLP-1 drug coverage, but conditioned upon measurable outcomes, according to the third annual Benefits Sentiment Index.
The 2025 Benefits Sentiment Index, a survey of more than 120 experienced benefit consultants, noted that consultants often guide self-insured employers to independent healthcare navigation companies, citing the need for a better member experience, stronger clinical integration and greater transparency in cost savings.
The Index reveals the top priorities and emerging concerns shaping consultants’ healthcare strategies, including:
- The level of reporting employers expect from their healthcare navigation vendors
- Some of the GLP-1 drug validation measures they’re advising employers to adopt
- Ways to integrate AI to improve benefit decision-making
